The study was conducted on a sample of 360 adolescents in Chandigarh. For the collection of data Scale of Academic Stress, Family Environment Scale and Peer Group Influence Inventory were used. For the analysis of data statistical techniques like t-test, Pearson’s product moment correlation and stepwise multiple regression were used. The results of the study showed that no significant gender difference was observed on academic stress. But on cohesion (the dimension of family environment) significant gender difference was observed. On peer group influence variable, significant gender differences were observed on health and outer appearance, aggression, substance use and sexual behaviour dimensions. Correlational analysis showed that academic stress was significantly and negatively correlated with cohesion, expressiveness, independence and organization dimensions of family environment. But positive and significant relationship of academic stress was observed with family involvement, health and outer appearance, aggression and sexual behaviour dimensions of peer group influence. Regression analysis demonstrated that cohesion (the dimension of family environment) and aggression (the dimension of peer group influence) were the significant predictors of academic stress and contributed to it independently as well as conjointly. The results indicated a clear role of family environment and peer group influence in the development of academic stress.{end-tooltip} |

{tooltip}Study Effectiveness of Self-Regulated Learning of Secondary School Students{end-texte}Abstract – This article describes how self-regulated learning (SRL) has become a popular topic in research in educational psychology and how the research has been translated into classroom practices. Research during the past 30 years on students’ learning and achievement has progressively included emphases on cognitive strategies, metacognition, motivation, task engagement, and social supports in classrooms. SRL emerged as a construct that encompassed these various aspects of academic learning and provided more holistic views of the skills, knowledge, and motivation that students acquire. The complexity of SRL has been appealing to educational researchers who seek to provide effective interventions in schools that benefit teachers and students directly. Examples of SRL in classrooms are provided for three areas of research: strategies for reading and writing, cognitive engagement in tasks, and self-assessment. The pedagogical principles and underlying research are discussed for each area. Whether SRL is viewed as a set of skills that can be taught explicitly or as developmental processes of self-regulation that emerge from experience, teachers can provide information and opportunities to students of all ages that will help them become strategic, motivated, and independent learners.{end-tooltip} |

{tooltip}Competency Centered Teacher Training Programme{end-texte}Abstract – The Constitution of India provides for free and compulsory training for all children upto the age of 14 years. Training reformers and researchers planned so many schemes to achieve the goal of Universal Primary Training. Besides this, Emergent and developed countries joined hands and pledged to have ‘Training for All’ in the 20th century. Yet, today in the 21st century which is called ‘Information Age’ much still remains to be done, particularly in rural parts of India. Literacy does not stop with acquiring three R’s but goes further in Emergent the innate talent of children. Both qualitative and quantitative aspects of training, especially in densely populated country like India, should get equal stress in all efforts. One cannot be compromised at the cost of other. The major focus in training for the masses needs to be done on the teacher and the taught. Children have to be moulded and guided for development of their innate talents and for that purpose, the teacher must possess the required competencies, skills and bent of mind which can be cultivated by promoting competency based teacher training programme at all the levels of teacher training.{end-tooltip} |

{tooltip}ICT and Teacher Education Curriculum{end-texte}Abstract – “Curriculum development is essentially a process of permanent search for qualitative improvement in response to different changes in the society. As such it is not a static but a dynamic process and should stand on three pillars, relevance, equity and excellence.” Curriculum developers must increasingly be demand driven than supply driven. They must be diviners of the learning needs of their students for the future rather than the packagers of subject content in which they are experts. Within the education sector, institutions catering to Teacher education have generally been the slowest and most lukewarm in adapting to anything that is new and off the beaten track. This has severely affected the quality of education imparted in schools and colleges. The teachers in this era of globalization are confronted with varied problems that are anticipated in this new knowledge age. This necessitates redefining philosophy of education for the development of a holistic personality. The paper presents the emerging trends in instrumental technology and proposes a plan of action to overhaul. The B.Ed. curriculum within the parameters approved by the University so that implementation does not face many hurdles.{end-tooltip} |

{tooltip}Indian Education System- A Historical Journey{end-texte}Abstract – The present paper discusses about the historic journey of Indian education system, which can be chronologically categorized into Ancient Vedic times, Medieval Buddhist period, Islamic period and modern pre and postcolonial era. Indian education system as well as the culture enjoyed its excellent status during ancient time. Education flourished at Nalanda, Takshashila, Ujjain, and Vikramshila Universities during medieval Buddhist period and earned prestige and reputation everywhere forever. With the advent of Mogul reign in India, the traditional methods of education increasingly came under Islamic influence; and Urdu, Farsi and Arabic languages replaced Sanskrit as a medium of instruction. Islamic institutions of education developed traditional Madresas and Maktabs and disapproved previous systems of education prevailed in India. The present educational system of India is nothing but a replica of British education system, introduced and founded by Macaulay in the 20th century. During 19th century in higher education, the British rule did not take adequate measures to help develop science and technology in India and instead focused more on arts and humanities. Though there are problems and disparities between the objectives and their implementation in education, the present education system in India has come a long way and will continue to improve in the future.{end-tooltip} |

In relation to this the use of IT in classroom some fundamental gains should be visualized such as practices of IT encourages teacher-students contact, cooperation among students, get prompt feedback, emphasizes time on task, communicates high expectations. Especially, a unified relationship of modern technology-IT and teacher students are depicted in this paper.{end-tooltip} |
